Buy now, pay later debt: what happens if you can't pay?

Buy now, pay later (BNPL) makes it easy to spread costs, but several agreements at once can quickly become hard to manage.

What happens if you miss a payment

Depending on the provider, you may be charged late fees, blocked from using the service and have the debt passed to a collection agency. Missed payments may also be reported to credit reference agencies.

Getting back on track

Make a list of every BNPL agreement and when payments are due. Contact providers early if you'll struggle. BNPL debts are non-priority and can usually be included in a debt solution.
